What is DHT and How can we block it?

What is DHT?

DHT is a hormone produced in the skin, liver and testes. DHT is present in both men and women, but DHT related hair loss, otherwise known Androgenic Alopecia or pattern baldness affects much more men than women.

The Best Snacks to Block DHT

Cashew nuts:

Raw cashew nuts are great for two reasons!

They’re rich in Zinc and Protein! Zinc is really useful: it helps to stop testosterone from converting to DHT in the first place. Zinc also helps to maintain healthy tissue growth and tissue repair.

Almonds are rich in L-lysine, which helps to stop DHT from forming in the first place. Almonds are also a great source of protein.

Pecans are high in gamma-tocopherol; which is a fantastic source of Vitamin E. Pecans are also high in Iron, Manganese, and Selenium, Which are extremely useful in helping to maintain healthy hair follicles.

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds contain high levels of phytosterols, including one called beta-sitosterol.

Peanuts are one of the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet, Packed with Vitamin E, Fiber Folates Protein Omega 3 Omega 6 Fatty acids and this study found: That peanuts could be a good supplementation for a hair growth diet in women experiencing hair loss,

Lavender essential oil recently gained attention for stimulating hair growth. A 2016 study found that lavender oil applied to mice made them grow more hair. Their hair also grew thicker and faster than normal. This benefit is way more effective when the oil can work itself into the skin

Tea Tree Oil:

Tea Tree Oil: This antimicrobial and anti-fungal can help to unclog hair follicles, heal scalp conditions such as dandruff and nourish roots. Tea tree oil also has anti-androgenic properties, which can block and reduce DHT production.

Green Tea

The powerful antioxidants in Green Tea help strengthen hair in a number of ways: ▪ Studies show that green tea contains the antioxidant “EGCG” (or epigallocatechin gallate) that has the ability to stimulate the hair growth cycle.

When studying mice stricken with hair loss problems, researchers found that hair loss was halted in all mice which received green tea in their drinking water and surprisingly triggered new hair growth on the head of some of the mice. ▪ Green Tea contains B vitamin (panthenol), which you usually find in hair conditioners, softens and strengthens the hair follicle whilst helping to control split ends. ▪ Application of Green Tea to the scalp, results in a significant elongation of the hair follicle. ▪

The anti-inflammatory properties in Green Tea helps to stop hair loss and even promote new hair growth. That means that you can use it to cleanse your scalp and fight scalp infections that may weaken your hair roots. Remember that a healthy scalp creates the best conditions for fast hair growth.
